Programme:
The race will be held on 20th August 2008, departure 11:30 hrs; should there be adverse weather/sailing conditions, the event will be postponed to 21st August.

Registration:
Except for 18th August, assistance available from each participating organiser sailing club or via email to the following address: info@trofeoformenton.it.  From 19th August and during the regatta, c/o Yacht Club Punta Sardegna at Porticciolo di Porto Rafael.

Boat eligibility:
Cruiser IMS/ORC Club, Regatta IMS/ORC Club, Vintage and Classic yachts with a CIM measurement certificate, J24, Smeralda 888, other sport cabin cruisers with ORC Club certificates, Latin sail boats.  Crafts without measurement certificate, will not be admitted and where there is failure to produce a certificate it will be up to the Organising Committee to assign each boat with a Rating in accordance with the list supplied by the Italian Sailing Federation.
Vele Bianche
All CRUISER Class boats with crews (even of just two people) with the use of only two sails on board, mainsail and jib will be included in a special Class called the ÒVele biancheÓ and will be able to participate in the event and win a prize for that category.

Race Area:
The routes possible are centred on the Maddalena Arcipelago and will be specified in the Race instructions.

Entries and entry fee:
Pre-inscriptions can be sent via email to info@trofeoformenton.it.  Inscriptions must be finalised at the Organising sailing clubs by (and not later than) 18:00 hrs on 19th August 2008.  The entry form is downloadable from the www.trofeoformenton.it website, under the title ÒentriesÓ.

Entry Fee:
Euro 90.00 for boats of l.f.t. ² 12 metres (or ² 36 ft); Euro120.00 for boats of l.f.t. >12 metres (or > 36 ft).

Rankings     
Separate rankings will beprepared based on the order of arrival in each class..  The Organising Committee has, in any event, the power to create new groups or on the order eliminate some based on the number and types of craft enrolled.  Where the Cruiser Class and the Regatta Class are concerned the Ratings will be calculated using the ORC Club formula; Vintage and Classic yachts will compete in compensated time using the compensation rules set in the CIM Regulations 2005-2008; ÒVele latineÓ will have their ratings calculated according to the Italian Sailing Federation rules.  J24 and Smeralda 888 will, en masse, race in real time.

MARIO FORMENTON Trophy
For 2008 the ÒMario FormentonÓ Trophy will be awarded to the winner, in corrected time, of the Cruiser Class.  To belong to the Cruiser Class and compete for the ÒMARIO FORMENTONÓ Trophy, the measurementÕs certificate will be used and where there is any controversy the final and unappealable ruling of the Organising Committee will prevail. 

Sailing Instructions
Instructions will be available to competitors from 17:00 hrs on 19th August 2008 at the Porticciolo di Porto Rafael, office of the regatta secretariat prior to completion of inscription formalities.

List of crew members and permits:
A complete list of crew members must be supplied at the time of settlement of the entry fee, and any eventual subsequent variations should comply with the rules in the Race Instructions.  All Italian crews must comply with the federal sporting activity regulations (FIV 2008 card showing corresponding stamp for medical visit).  On each craft there should be at least 3 members to a crew.

Rules:
The regattas will be raced according to the following regulations: ISAF Regulation 2005-2008 (RRS), IMS Rules, J24 and Smeralda 888 for the respective classes, C.I.M. Regulations 2005-2008 for tonnage and regattas of the Vintage, Classic and Spirit of Tradition Yachts; Rules for the "Vela Latina".

- Italians Rules by Italian Sailing Federation Respecting Italian legislation for sailing within 6 miles.
- Any further communications from the Regatta Committee and/or the Complaints Committee.  The Race instructions will prevail in the case of conflict with any of the aforementioned regulations. 

SkipperÕs meeting:
At 19:00 hrs on Tuesday 19th August 2008, a SkipperÕs meeting will be held at the Porticciolo di Porto Rafael when the routes and starting signals will be given.

Prize-giving:
The prize-giving will take place on the day, at the place and time to be provided either in the Race Instructions or via the official communications Register.

Prizes:
Boats will receive prizes as follows:
- The first ranked in real time
-The first three boats in each group
- The youngest competitor
The winner in corrected time will receive a copy of the ÒMario FormentoÓ Trophy Ð the original being held at the Yacht Club Punta Sardegna headquarters and which will be awarded permanently to the boat owner who wins the regatta 3 times (it does not have to be 3 consecutive times).

Responsibilities:
Participants in the regatta do so at entirely at their own risk and responsibility, and boat owners or their representatives hold sole responsibility for the decision to start or continue the race.  A declaration of assumption of responsibility must be handed in before departure.

With this Notice the Organising bodies, the Race Committee and all those associated with them in the organisation of this event in any way, shape or form are hereby absolved of any responsibility.

A declaration confirming that the necessary equipment is aboard the yacht and that it conforms to the requirements for its measurement and/or by law should be delivered by the boat owner or by one of his representatives.

The Race Committee, at its own, unchallengeable choice, can conduct inspections and non compliance could lead to disqualification without right of appeal.

Event classification and advertising:
The regatta is  classified in category ÒCÓ of the ISAF publicity Code: Rule 20.
